Lowering Kit Questions for 2018 2WD SCrew
Looking to lower my 2018 Lariat Sport SCrew 2WD.
I was looking at the Maxtrac 3/5 kit with shocks but I have the sport 18" factory wheels and don't plan on getting new ones just yet. The other kit I was looking at is the DJM 3/6 kit. I had a 2008 F150 FX2 years ago with a 2/4 drop: wasn't a rear flip. And that truck would hit the rear end on every bump, even when moved to a 2/3 drop. With the flip kits for the 15 - 18 is there any rubbing, banging when going over bumps? I'd like to go as low as I can with out contacting the rear end again. I plan on running 24's or 26's in the near future. I also see a lot running mixed kits, is this just personal preference or are there bad parts in some of these kits? I have asked a few times in other threads about banging over bumps but no one has answered. I don't plan on ever hauling or towing anything with this truck. Thanks Herb |
With a 5” rear drop mine will bottom out on occasion...it’s gotta be a pretty bad bump though. I use short button head bumpstops for about an extra inch of clearance. I think a 4” drop with those stops would rarely if ever bottom out. |

My 2001 GMC would bottom out just stepping on the rear bumper so any bump would set it off. And suggestions with the kit I just ordered. Thanks Herb |
DJM instructions are missing a lot of info. I just did there rear flip kit. First real drop I did, and I did it by myself in my shop on jack stands. I will say the adjustable pinion angle worked great for me too get the vibrations out. |
