Default Fox 2.0 "drop" shock install/review

As someone who tends to want the most out of my vehicles I was left wanting a little bit with the BellTech rear shocks I was running. While better than stock they were only marginally better at best. The back end just felt "soft" and I knew I wanted a firmer shock. With a 4.5" rear drop though the choices only go from decent to worse when it comes to drop shocks. I've ran Fox several times from 2.0 smooth bodies to 2.5 reservoir shocks so I know I like them and I know the quality is there. I called Fox tech who has helped me several times and explained what I was after...they told me where to find the info on their universal 2.0's (I started another thread with that info). I pulled one of the BellTech's to measure it and found that PN 985-24-004 was almost identical in length with enough travel to work so I got those and installed them today. The "soft" feeling out back is gone. Yes, they're firmer but that's what I like with a dropped truck. Everything just feels more composed on rough roads....I think I'm happy for the time being. The next step is DJM 3" drop control arms and Fox 2.0 coilovers after I knock a few other things off my list. As is it's handling like a beast with these and the Hellwig bars on both ends. I'm swapping my 285's for 295's next week...hopefully a little more tire footprint on the road helps even more.

Nice to see this, not thrilled at all with the Belltech shocks on the back of mine either (1000SP, 5.5" flip), and looking for other options. Have been considering a set of Monroe coil overload shocks, but need to measure to ensure I get the right set for a lowered application. The Belltech shocks on the flip bottom out SO easy, even with the stubby little bump stops from the kit. Good to hear Fox has some good options for us too, and a good review. I'm right there with you on liking the stiffer ride when lowered, so similar goal here haha.

If you have 5.5" drop they have a couple that are even shorter than the ones I got. One of hem should be spot on for your truck.

Thanks, just saw your other thread too with the list with measurements. Still undecided if I want to go with the Monroe ones for a little extra spring rate, at least until I can get overload bags set up. Definitely need to do something though, it bottoms out WAY too easily over not very rough roads.

If anyone is looking for a good set of BellTech shocks hit the 2015^ for sale forum...I listed the ones I removed.

Glad to hear you're happy with them, I may consider swapping out eventually as well once I decide I'm 100% happy with my stance and have it fully sorted out.

Wow- great work
I wish I had seen this a month ago as I just bailed on my truck being lowered, primarily due to Belltech.
I wish you the best and want to see what it looks like when you are done. Nice to see Fox (and their quality) in the game now.
