Dedicated Forum for Lowered Full Sized Trucks?
#11
One would think here in FL and TX, CA etc that there would be more of a presence. I know it's beating a dead horse....but it's almost depressing logging in, seeing new build threads and opening them only to start reading AGAIN about leveling, a lift kit, brush guard, tool box, led strip under the tail gate....lol

Lowered trucks have a huge presence here in TX, but I think slowly more and more guys are going to a Super Duty with 10" of lift. I do know that back when I was a GM guy there was a large lowered/bagged presence on one of the GM forums.
I don't have FB but I agree with everybody if we could direct some of those guys here it would be awesome. Hopefully they wouldn't run into some of what we see here on occasion with ridicule and disrespectful comments to lowered F150's.
I do follow a few sweet bagged and low static F150's on Instagram.
BGG- On a side note, yes I agree about the same ole thing lol. My previous truck was lifted and about a month after the "new" wore off I was wishing it had a 2/4.

I thought I was the only one that couldn't find a decent lowered full size truck forum. I'm in for building up the following here, if only I knew how to do it. I appreciate the performance aspect along with the lowered suspension and the related issues, but I do like gazing upon some of the really nice looking lowered f150's. I've had the suspension out from under my truck probably 5 times getting it the way I want it. It's finally there with the exception of perhaps doing a mini frame notch to give a little more rear suspension travel, but nothing exotic.
On the performance side I've messed around a lot with heat exchangers, fans, and tunes, aside from the blower install itself. I was thinking of making a few trips to the track for a little test and tune, but decided if it didn't go fast enough that it would start a downward spiral of pouring more and more money into it until it was fast enough, but then it wouldn't be viable anymore as a reliable daily driver so I've pretty much stopped that racing part of my plans.
not sure why I posted all that lol.

There is an easy fix guys. Lets try and be more active in this sub forum. Geez I have asked questions and they have gone unanswered for days then I get a random response, which leads me to re-post in the general yearly forum for answers.
Its got to start somewhere.

Not knocking the lowered truck desire, I dig it. BUT, I'm coming from the turbo subaru world, and even over there I was a wagon owner and part of the minority. If you want to go full performance, etc, there's honestly only so much you can do with a truck, no? Same with a wagon versus a sedan versus a coupe vs a tiny sports car, etc. To each their own, but you certainly reach diminishing returns when you are trying to maximize performance of a truck that weighs in at 3 tons Also complicated by the fact that trucks start off as being crazy expensive compared to tuner communities that have a buy-in of under $10k and parts that are equally as cheap. These trucks are a different ballgame and it's just a different level of request to expect a large community to a) want to modify a truck for visual and performance upgrade and b) PAY FOR IT.
Does the raptor community jump on the performance / visual modification bandwagon a bit harder?
BTW, love your build, goose

Honestly, and I think many will agree, yes it takes money to lower a truck, lmao, BUT lok at what some spend to raise them! Its craZ expensive! Im not talking about all out performance...just lowered scene. I would really push more for this...even start a forum, but I am sooooo busy these days. Retired, and I actually am busier ow between my hobbies and research for others that im almost all "funned out". I wish we had a space here to call our own WITH a proper thread designation not under reviews or wherever it is now. Agreed we also need more, much more, participation.

There isn't a large following for lowered Ford trucks compared to GM. The aftermarket has always attached itself to the GM trucks more than the F150. The success of the LS engine platform plays a huge role. The modular engine F150s have never had that kind of following, except for the Lightning.
As goofy as it may seem there's a large base that will never buy a twin turbo V6 simply because it will never sound like a cammed 5.3. Or they won't buy the 5.0 F150 because it's not a proven winner compared to the LS engines(trucks), and costs a good bit more to modify.
I think performance and lowered play hand in hand. That may not be case with everybody but I think most consumers go by that model and the aftermarket will follow.
