Read that too with all of my research as well that you want some angle degree for take offs and when you go to accelerate and different shaft movements. Definitely let us know how the 6* works out for you. I have a 5* shim coming in from the same company danlong used coming in sometime next week and will report back. I've already mentally prepared myself that the 6* shim may have been the correct one all along but we shall see I suppose. I don't mind doing all this leg work if it helps someone out in the future. *Of course, every truck is different.
I decided to hold off on the shim. I'
Going to replace whole driveline assembly with new serviceable assembly $700 custom made. I had my co worker check the carrier bearing this morning. He said there is about 1/8 play in it. Which he said shouldn't have any play at all. He also said going from stock to lifted to lowered it wears a spot in the bearing each time. And that is Proably why I have vibrations. So best thing for me to do is replace it all. Truck is going to paint next week. While it' in the shop I'll have driveshaft assembly shipped off and duplicated and ready for when it' finished at paint. I'l check back in about 3 weeks or so

Any updates to using the 6* shim? I am debating of lowering my 4x4 with this kit but want to really try and avoid creating driveline vibrations as much as possible.

I’ve also been fighting this myself. Although I bought my kit in peices, it’s a 2.5/4 inch belltech drop. I started with a low speed vibe at around 6-10 mph. I added a 2.5 degree shim and that created a new vibe at 25 mph. At that point I was at 5.8 degrees down at the trans and right at 3 up at the rear pinion. I tried a 4 degree shim which brought it to 5.8 and 3.8 (should’ve been more. The vibes got smaller but still there. Some say keep it negative and some say match. I’d normally lean on the side of keeping it negative because of axle rotation but at -2 it should be fine and it wasn’t. I had the company listed make a set of 6 degree shims for me and that brought it to 5.8 and 5.3. They vibrations have gotten less but they are still there. If you take off at very lightly you don’t feel them, which would lead you to think axle wrap may be causing it, but they were there at a -2 pinion angle. The only thing I can come up with is maybe I had a u joint problem when it was lifted that I didn’t notice and now that it’s lowered on normal tires it has shown up. This is a 2012 SCSB 4x4 with a one peice shaft.
Thanks Mike

Great post here rojizostang! I am having the same problem as this poster, a shudder at low speed but only with heavy acceleration. I just ordered those traction bars you mentioned from Jegs to see if that's the problem. But makes perfect sense. Keeping my fingers crossed.

They're a cheap fix if they work for you. Aren't they like $50?

Resurrecting an old thread as I’ve read so many and I get different answers so I will just ask...

I have my shim I stalled identical to the picture above with the fat end towards the front of truck but I’ve read is on flip kits the fat end should be towards the rear? What’s right as I am experiencing some vibrations as well?

I have a 2019 2wd Crewcab with the 2/4 Belltech kit.

Thanks!

you probably need to get it up in the air and take a look at everything to determine what you need to do.

i'm quite a bit lower than you, however on mine i have the fat end of the shim (6 degree shim) toward the rear bumper.

you may also need to relocate or adjust the center carrier bearing mount, and perhaps even shim under the back of the transmission. you can get the vibrations out, however it may take some time and effort

Jeez...I was seriously considering doing a 2/4 drop on my 2018 but this thread and others like it are making me reconsider

Will have my Maxtrac 2/4 installed on my 2019 within the next 2 weeks. I'll let you know how it feels.

Thanks. Are you doing it yourself? What wheels/tires are you going with? Will you have to cut and re-weld the hanger as well?
