Default 2001 screw coil springs

I did a little looking and didn't see an answer. So, is installing lower coil springs a driveway job or no? Are there any special tools needed? My wife and kids are going out of town , so it might be the perfect time for it, thanks. It is a 2001 screw 2wd and it is going to be 2-3" springs, thanks.

Definitely can be done with the correct tools. There are a couple large nuts that most people don't have sockets for. You'll need a way to compress the springs. You can use the tool loaner program from your local parts store for that. It's not that bad just make sure to get it aligned after.

Ok, I am slow, I got held up with some other things. Back to spring install, pretty straight forward? Need a spring compressor , can I get some instructions? I haven't been able to find anything. What needs to be disconnected to drop the front enough to get the old springs out? And if I have to take things loose should they be replaced with new while out? Thanks!

Don't buy Western Chassis coils, they sag after a few years......Belltech might work better..

2" would be better on the alignment, 3" you might get premature inside tire wear....
