All you need is the bar that comes with the truck to lower the spare. They come with a key when new that looks like a wheel lock key, but these only have a square notch that the bar end fits into to crank it up or down. I will try and post a pic tomorrow.

where is this bar kept? Mine never had it and my parts truck doesn't have one either I believe

You can pick one up at the pick and pull for $5. Mine didn't have one either.
