I replaced the ash tray in my old FX4 (you can see in my threads) and I just want to get rid of this.

Nothing wrong with it. Yup, it stays closed.

I took it out of my truck to put in a USB charging project. I since then sold the truck. I posted pics of the project if you are interested in seeing it.
