Default Would you trade in?

I have a 2003 F150 XLT FX4 scab with a stepside bed that has 140,700 miles on it.; has the 5.4 with 3.55 ls. It has the plastic bedliner as well as the painted liner, has a brush guard and tonneau cover. In the last year its gotten new shocks, duratracs tires, and couple other small things. The truck is in overall good shape but has some rocker panel rust but other than some rust there are no known real issues. Its been paid off and the dealer has offered 4,500 trade in.

I'm looking at a 2017 F150 XLT FX4 screw with the 5.0 and 3.55 electronic locking rear, 5.5 ft bed chrome package, 36 gallon fuel tank among other things. Winder sticker price is 49,305 and dealer is asking 40,305 after incentives/offers.

The reason I'm considering a new truck is that I have a growing family and the car seats don't really fit all that well in my current truck. But I do love my truck and don't really want to get rid of it either lol. So my question is would you guys get the new truck or hang on to the old and maybe try to come up with the trade in value some other way or just not get the new one?

I'd say time to trade. At most you are going to probably wait anther year or two. If something goes wrong such as the transmission then you are going to get less at trade in. Get that 2017! Although you can get a better deal than the $40k the dealer is offering.

I would buy outright and sell myself.
