BareBonesXL The engine will crank/turn over/spin. Good starter, good battery. It will "start" and "run" with starting fluid. Well, more sputter than run, but there is combustion occurring with starter fluid. The real mystery is, that when it decides to start, all I have to is "bump" the key and it fires up and and runs smooth as silk. I'm beginning to wonder if my PCM is losing it's mind, or my OBD diagnostic module is losing ITS mind. I REELY don't want to drop $100 on the roll of the dice to see if it is the fuel pump.

It sits for 2 minutes while I run in the convenience store for a cup of coffee and: nada. I've gone for a week or two without any trouble, then every other time it won't start. This morning it would't start, I got P.O.'d and shoved inward on the key and it started. All day long, inward pressure on the ignition switch and it started. It may just be on a cooperative binge and I may be just dreaming that it's the ignition switch.

So, you still haven't checked the fuel pressure? Barebones already went over that what you are explaining describes a failing FPR to a "T". If you are just hoping it will come out and tell you it is bad, it's not going to happen. You are wasting yours and our time if you can't get out there and perform this simple test.

I'm with white and barebones... check the fuel pressure, it's simple and will help you so you don't have the "roll the dice" but even if you did roll the dice... fuel pumps don't last forever; you're on borrowed time regardless. Wouldn't be the worst preventive maintenance out there. Sure beats getting stuck on the side of the interstate at 2AM.

Tl;dr Check your dang fuel pressure you can't diagnose problems if you aren't willing to test anything

Well if it tripped the inertia breaker, he can do anything he wants to , it's not going to start ... not without a resetting the breaker by hand.

I'm assuming it is not tripped because this:

Either way.... he needs a reading off the FPR, or we can't diagnose a damn thing.

Ahh, didn't see that. I'd still check it, it may be tripped now.

So what's the hold up, doesn't want to check the pressure...fighting it lol.

Yeah... seems pretty simple.... and was suggested in post 3 or 4 - hopefully the OP finds the time to do it, otherwise we are throwing darts. Autozone rents FP gauges too...

Fixed it. Thanks

Got it fixed. Sorry to take so long.

What was the actual fix in case someone else has the same problem?

Pappy Goodwill 03-30-2020 01:59 PM

F150 won't staet

Sorta-kinda. I was leaning more toward someone wondering if they had saved my (or marraige.)
