Won't start after body swap. Help
Ok so I haven't been on the forum in a while but basically I wrecked my truck (2000 scab 4.6). I thought the cheapest thing to do would be to buy a good body and swap to my frame since the frame was straight and engine still ran.
I bought a 97 scab 4.6 that didn't run and just unbolted the body and placed it on my 2000 frame with the good engine. Bolted everything up and it wouldn't turn over and the fuel pump won't come on. We changed the pcm thinking that would help. Didn't work. Changed the wiring harness to the 97 harness and now the fuel pump comes on but still won't spin over.
What am I missing?? It has to be something simple right? I'm going to put the steering column from the 2000 in because the dealership said it may have something to do with the PATS system. Has anyone done this? Thanks for the help in advance.

Are you using the "new" gauge cluster from the "new" cab and the old engine / PCM / ECU? If so that's most likely your issue. Try swapping in the original gauge cluster mated to your original PCM / ECU. Generally speaking the computer will only work and fire the truck up if it's mated to the original gauge cluster. This is to prevent odometer fraud or else everyone would just swap in a lower mileage cluster and cheat
Not saying that's 100% the issue, but def worth considering. It's probably PATS related as your dealer suggested. That makes sense to me.
Hopefully one of the other senior members can chime in. Not sure what to do because your running a Frankenstein setup of sorts haha

I'm stumped.

Update: I swapped back to the original PCM that matches the gauge cluster but it didn't help. I can start it from the solenoid but not from the key.
It has to be a wiring harness issue. Is there something different between the year models that won't allow them to start? Has anyone ever put a P.I. Engine from a 2000 into a '97 npi truck? That's basically what I'm doing.
