Default Wiring In Under Dash LED's

Ok so I picked up a couple feet of led's and I realized I dont know what wires to hook them up to. I only want them to light up when I open the doors so the easy way would be if there was a fuse to go to but I have a feeling i will have to go the light in the door and trace back to the boot to the cab but I know there has to be some way to do it in the cab to turn on with the dome light. If any one has any insight I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance yall.

Use a test light on the fuses and see which one completes the circuit when the door is open and key is not in the vehicle. Then once you've found those, put the key in and turn it so the lights go out. Now go over the fuses and find which ones are now out.

Once you've found it, put in an add a fuse.

Well, I DID do a certain project that would fit the bill that you need. Took me 2 relays, and a few diodes. You'd only need the relays. Power for the relay came from the dome, and I had a hot wire as the power. 2nd relay was powered by the radio, but i used the other prong so that it would only receive power when the domes were on, and the power to the radio was off. This was the project I did anyway...

I know its not what you were looking for, and I doubt you'd want to do it, but I just though I would share it.

Pop off the passenger side kick panel and it's a black w/ blue tracer wire that your looking for. There's 2 of them so use a multimeter to test which you need, one will have power with the door open and the other won't. Just splice them into it and your good to go.

Just remembered... I tapped into a different color wire going into the dome. Mus've tapped into the courtesy light wire. not the actual dome.

Ok I found it. The #16 pin is a blue and black wire that stays hot. The #4 pin also a blue and black wire that is hot with the door open and not when the door is closed.

Maybe I had my colors backwards. But if it's the right wire then it'll work exactly like you want.

Is it on Pass. side or Dr. side? I'd be interested in switching to that wire.

Ok see the black and blue wire in the bottom right? That is the wire in the #4 spot in my 2000 f150 that goes hot and cold like I was looking for. Now this rain just needs to stop for five minutes so i can wire it up.
