Default Wiring 2001 Topper

Any suggestions on wiring a 2001 Supercrew topper brake light and dome light? Thanks

If you have the tow package (or perhaps even if you don't), you can tap into the trailer light connector (brake light and running light circuits) under the bed, driver's side, rear. Use solder and heat shrink (and/or liquid electrical tape), don't just use SctochLok wire taps. The only disadvantage with this is you'll have to have the running lights on for the bed lamp to light. The other solution would be to pull power from the cargo/brake lamp circuits in the driver's side kick panel or door channel , but that will require running wire out of the cab, along the frame rail, and up to the topper.

Thank you for the reply. I am thinking about tapping into that for the brake light. Then maybe running a separate wire (with inline fuse) directly from the battery for the dome light in the topper. I will look into your suggestion for sure. Thank you!

There is a constant 12VDC (charging) wire in the tow harness, as well.
