Bosch Icons since 08, -same old blades work great. I was sold quite a few years ago lol. Truck is garaged most of the time, except for last winter. Clean the blades once in awhile, nothing special. I know what you mean though, been in a few vehicles that chatter like that.

The best blades I've ever used are made by Rain X, beam style. After using the beam style, I'll never buy POS metal frames again.

But Brewster.... am I reading that right... you have been using the same blades since 2008? As in, you haven't replaced them in 8 years?

EDIT: These are the bad boys.... They lasted me 3 years, and I drive it all year.

I buy good blades but they only last about a year sitting outside in the Texas sun.

I'd love to put my new F150 in the garage but it's occupied by a sweet 68 Mustang convertible, so the pickup has to stay outside.

No way Mama's car is sitting outside.

Yea, 8 years so far. Cleaned them up and checked them out a few weeks ago after being pummeled by insects on the cruise home the night before. A lot of bug carnage this time of year.. Anyway, wiped them down w/Isopropyl, gave them a good look see and flexed theme pretty good. Yea, mine aren't metal as well..I don't know, but they're the best wipers I've ever used...made the wiper hassle go away lol. Honestly, they still look fairly new. I can get a pic see lol.

Checking the link I noticed that every wiper shmo out there has copied the Icons now. Icons use to be one of a kind when I went for a set. Yea , when they were way over priced lol. Ended up well worth the expense though. Not sure what type of material mix was used in the making, -whatever the stuff is it's a winner!

Bosch Icons only lasted about a year on my mustang. And it parks under a carport, and I worked night shift. Same with the rain-X.

The OEM ford wipers were just about a year old and started doing it so I replaced them with Bosch Icon, which Ive used before on vehicles with zero issues. They were fine at first but then started chattering/jumping even worse then the stock blades. It got so bad in one rainstorm that while I was out, I had to stop and by another set to see if it was the 1 piece style of the stock/Icons. I went with the Michelin cheapos and they were better during that storm but now are becoming like the others. I have tried rain-x...no rain-x...cleaning the glass with different products...different soap when washing the truck...and different washer fluid. NOTHING HELPS!!! They dont jump at first, but after a couple cycles of the blades they bounce all around. Sometimes is just noticeable and sometimes they jump 3 or 4 big jumps barely touching the glass.

My question now is could it be something with the wiper arms themselves or the actual wiper motor? Ive tried listening to the motor while the wipers are going and i cant tell if the motor is skipping.

I know this is a lot of words for such a small and stupid problem, but its driving me insane. Its been somewhat nice lately and I forget about the problem then a bug will splat on the windshield and I turn on the washer/wipers and my anger is returned. My next stop is the dealership, but wanted the forums opinion first.

Any help would be appreciated!!
Not sure how old this thread is but I have two 2018 XLT's and they both do the same with stock wipers. Did you ever figure out a fix?

I found that treating wiper blades with 303 UV Protectant spray makes them both glide easier and last longer. It is expensive, but I'm impressed on the ROI. I stumbled upon a Youtube video showing this stuff, and decided to try it out. I can vouch for it. Lots more uses too.... look at the reviews.
