Windshield Strip
I have a 2002 F150 and I can hear the wind blowing in through the top of the windshield. Also, when the rain is heavy, it will leak in. I had it 'repaired' a while back but obviously the guy didn't know what he was doing.
My question is:
1) Can I just remove the black weatherstrip that is at the top of the windshield?
2) Couldn't I just put some sealant-I'm thinking marine caulk-up there to keep the wind and rain out.
Thanks.

GO SOX!
This happens with mine as well. I figured it was coming in from the rain channel so I sealed it off, but water still get in the cab.
Let's hope somebody knows because I'm at the point of replacing my entire windshield over it.

Agreed. But the question is can I remove the top weather strip? I know I can pay 250-300$$$ for a windshield...but I'd rather see if a tube of $15 caulk would work before I spent that extra $300.

Something I need to take care of pretty quickly.

The only true way to seal this problem is have the windshield removed and everything cleaned and new sealer. Trying to put a caulk in to seal it will usually not work. The rain will get in other places that have also started coming loose. Once you have a hole somewhere, on these trucks, that seal/windshield needs replacement. Get it done by someone who is familiar with the Gen 10 trucks. No shadetree mechanic. lol

Not the proper way to fix it. That's only going to be temporary and then your probably going to have rust on the pinch weld if you leave it go for too long. Also if your windshield is coming loose that greatly reduces the structural integrity of the vehicle. A windshield can Increase the structural integrity of a vehicle in the case of a roll over by up to 1 and a half times. And if it's loose enough It won't keep the airbags in the cab in the case of a crash like it's designed too.
