Will 98 cab fit 03 frame/chassis
I have a 2003 F150 SuperCab with the 6’6 box. It is extremely rusted out from road salt, however it has an 83K Powertrain and the frame is solid.
My rocker panels. Or “lack thereof”
Pulling my cab off today. Has been ready to come off for a while.
I have found a 1998 SuperCab with a 6’6 box with no rust, and I want to make sure that a 98 cab will fit a 2003 frame before I buy it. They are both 2WD. The 1998 has some sort of timing problem, and it’s all taken apart. It’s sitting outside of an apartment complex so I guess that’s why it’s only $400 and “needs gone ASAP”
Here’s the 1998. Even has the wheels I wanted to buy!
The underside of the 98 is spotless. Rockers are perfect.

Seems like 97/98 was slightly different for the front bumper mounting. I think it is a bolt on part to the frame though, so as long as you keep that, you should be OK.

The differences between 97-98 and 99-03 seem to be the front clip and the interior. I was able to do a 99-03 front end swap on a 97 and it just bolted up.

Isn't the bumper bracket different? Something was different when I looked.... might just be the way that the tow hooks are mounted that I am thinking of...

Don't forget that the wiring harnesses are different in the 97-98 vs 99 up. You will have to swap the full dash harness, and use the 03 gauges, headlight switch, heater control etc. The plugs are different and the PATs would be something to deal with in the column. Swapping the steering column complete would be the best way along with the 03 full wiring set up.
I'm not 100% sure on the door wiring but since the doors are different, I believe the door wiring is also. Something to check also
