Default lift questions

Hey im new to this forum and not new to trucks in that ive always had one but ive never really been serious about offroading until now. I have a 2002 f150 fx4 and plan on putting a 6 in lift and 35's on by winter but i have some questions about the gearing and reporgraming. I know my gas mileage is going to be worse after putting bigger tires but that doesnt bother me, i was jsut wondering what the options are as far as reprograming it after lifting it.

i dont know much about reprogramming but if i were you i would definitly regear as soon as possible. itll help out your mpg and your drivetrain wont be working as hard. plus if you get on it one good time you could do work on a set of stock gears.

PS, when you get 35s, your speedometers gonna be off a few miles an hour, i learned the hard way just how much of a difference a little taller tire really makes. so either let the ford dealer reprogram for the correct tire height or invest in a fuzz buster..

if you get a good power programmer you can recalibrate your speedometer with any size tire and if you regear which you should you can also input the gear setup you have to regain lost mpg and horsepower...

deff re gear the rear diff but if you plan on doing a lot of off reading then i would recommend re gearing the front diff to and as for programing and stuff you should get an edge performance programmer you can get more performance also you can change your shift points and it will recalibrate your speed for you i have one and i love the thing.

4.56 gearing for 35" tires.

You can get a programmer and it will add some lost HP back and you can recalibrate your speedo. EDGE is a good programmer.

Just incase he doesn't know, if you only regear the back, DO NOT PUT IT IN 4WD or you will blow that **** up by having 2 different gears.

That's right AZ.....honestly tho if your truck has the 3:73 gears it will handle those 35's pretty dang good....but I'm always down with re-gearing cause it will just improve drivability.....and re-programmers are also always a good route.
