Wheel bearing failing?

i drove from austin tx to missoula mt for college and about half way there it sounded like i was sitting in the cockpit of a single engine plane it was so loud. when we got to missoula, i had it checked out and my front left wheel bearing went out and my front right one was close to going out also.
