What is you view on a Topper?

Not sure I appreciate this paragraph. Decreased visibility is the biggest thing you listed, I try to back in whenever I can to avoid problems. Getting things out of the front of the bed? Come on! Are we so lazy that we cant hop in the bed and crawl a little? And if your hauling something that big in the bed of your truck perhaps its time to buy a trailer.
Toppers are great depending on what you use your truck for, its been a huge conveniance for me and has inconvenianced me just a couple times, but I also own a 12 foot double axle trailer that took care of the inconveniance.

It does make it difficult to because you have to crawl all the way into the bed when you need to get back there and visibility is not a good as it would be without it.
On the other hand I was able to haul things in the rain one more then one occasion without getting them wet AND it makes for a great place to sleep on camping trips.
I have one but like I said it would not be my first choice. It makes the truck look old man-ish, I'm 26. Sorry if I offended anyone. You should go with one of those soft covers that is flat and folds or rolls back.

My opinion is they look good if the truck is lifted with the Offroad look. That's what I'm shooting for and wanting a topper. They are practical to me I have two dogs that I like to take everywhere with me and this would make it way easier. Plus I just moved to Colorado and went through my first winter here and realized it would come in handy!

Wish i could find one cheap for camping/exploring. The only thing ive been hauling lately is numerous dirtbikes, but i have a nice trailer for that. The only think im apprehensive on is i wouldnt be able to fit my toolbox as it fits over the bed rails. Would be really cool to put my bike tools and fluids in there with an empty spot for a sleeping bag for camping/dirtbike trips!

I wont post the pics of my 05 with a topper but I will tell you my experience with it and toppers in general.
The good:
-lockable
-keeps your **** dry
-dont have to peel it off every time you want to put something taller than your bedsides in the bed
-Can reach items near the cab or bedsides if you have the accessible side windows.
-can sleep in it if you need to
-allows you to pack your cargo as high as the cab without the need of a tarp and bungee cords, makes it very handy for camping, moving, deer camp ect ect.
-basically doubles the usable and protected cargo space of your bed
The bad:
-hinders vision through rear window. Not a big deal for me, I have gigantic side mirrors and use them for everything anyways
-back glass collects snow in the winter
-makes it slightly tougher to get to stuff that has slid to the front of the bed. That is easily remedied by cutting a 2x4 to fit in the slots at the back of the bed to keep stuff from sliding forward.
Summary:
My toppers have made bed usage alot easier and more convenient for me over the years. I do wish from time to time that it wasnt on but the other 99% of the time I love it, especially in crap weather. My toppers have been far more useful than the soft tonnou's I have on my other trucks.

I had a work vehicle that was assigned to me for a period of time. '07 F150 long bed 2wd with a topper. The visibility was bad, that was the biggest issue. It also makes having a bed full of work equipment near impossible to get to and very hot in the summer. Also, around these parts, the majority of pickups with toppers are driven by 60-70 year old men. That might ruffle feathers, but its true.

Exactly! Everyone uses their trucks for different purposes. It always seems someone is going to be critical of whatever you do. You can't please everyone, so you gotta please yourself!

I have one, I run it in the winter to keep the snow out of the bed and to keep everything dry. During the warmer months though I take it off to make it easier to carry things.
