Default What Trans do I have?

I couldn't find that info doing a search. I found everything else for my '97 F150 through the VIN breakdown page including my axle, but nothing for the trans. Trans code is "U" and the SPR (if it means anything is 4D.

Thanx. Pepse.

I thought so. Just going from memory over the years as it is pretty much a light duty trans compared to the E4OD.. That is helpful info.

Thanx. Pepse.

No problem. The E4OD is a 4R100 more or less. When I dismantled one there were factory inked 4R100 internals. Difference, - the '70' in 4R70W stands for 700 ft-lbs of torque. By the same token, the '100' in 4R100 denotes 1000 ft-lbs of torque input. The E40D/4RT100's are larger, exactly 4 1/2 " longer vs the 4r70w. I had a E40D in a 98 F150 that was about dead at 186,000 miles. Installed a Transgo Tugger Kit, flushed and filled with Amsoil synthetic and it's still doing the job today at 350,000 miles plus. Never rebuilt it, the kit was $99, all it needed. Of course Amsoil is in a class by itself AFA trans fluid. That truck is with my daughter now, still doing it.

With the torque multiplier factor of 2, the 4R70W is rated at 350 foot pounds at the flywheel, and the 4R100/E4OD is rated at 500 foot pounds.

I found it on the driver's B pillar. At the bottom of the VIN tag.

Later. Pepse.
