What is this thing called? and is it supposed to move a lot? Like back and fourth? Just keep hearing a popping noise and thought maybe it was this

Sway Bar and the thing it's connected to at the ends is called the Sway bar end link. There are two; one on either side of the bar.

There are also two U-shaped brackets on the frame with Bushing isolators that hold the sway bar rigid to the frame to keep the body from swaying too much in either direction.

The idler arm is also a common wear part that can make a clunking sound.

Yeah thats the sway bar your holding. You shouldnt be able to move it really at all by hand. The end links that are pictured and mentioned above are really cheap at any auto parts store and easy to replace. Same goes for the frame mounted bushings if needed.

So when i turn my wheel and it pops it could be that?

and it moves ALOT! so can i tighten that bolt so it'll stop moving or what?

I suppose you could but itd just continue to wear even more. When I replaced mine the stock rubber bushings on those links had just disentegrated altogether. Autozone sells "Energy Suspension" links for like 20 bucks for the set. Theyre polyurethane so theyll last much longer too.

If there is popping when you turn it could also be your CV. More commonly they click when they are bad, but mine where popping so bad it felt like someone was hitting my wheel with a sledge hammer.

You can get moog sway bar links for $9 I just replaced mine, one snapped from rust and I figured I'd replace both.... Both had disintegrated as well, had to use an angle grinder to cut them out. Pretty simple fix tho.

OP take off the end links, replace them with moog ones, while the end links are off if you can move the sway bar easily (example if you pull it up and it falls down) then you need to replace the sway bar bushings as well. Cheap and pretty simple fix that will save you headaches later

so it says that theres different measurements for the bolt which means different links. how do i measure the bar without taking it out? it says theres a 27mm , 30mm, and a 33mm one i guess.
