Default At my wits end.

Ive been wrenching on my buddies 98 F150 with the 4.6 for about a week now. It started with a small miss so I got under the hood and the #3 spark plug wire was unplugged...sweet. Plugged it in and the truck ran great. Then about an hour later the truck started missing again. Checked that plug wire and it was popped off again. weird... Plugged it back in and it was fine again. On the way back to my house it started AGAIN! Checked it, again, this time it was plugged in, pulled the plug, THE WHOLE electrode was gone!

Scanned for codes, and it threw a code for the camshaft positioning sensor at me. Replaced it and the truck still ran like crap. Replaced all 8 plugs with Motorcraft platinums, replaced all 8 wires with Duralast wires from Autozone, a new MAF sensor, and threw 2 new Motorcraft coils at it. The freekin thing STILL runs like crap.

Im at my wits end with this truck. After all of that it still idles really rough, no power at all, runs hot, and sucks gas like a freekin pig!

What are the chances its a clogged up cat? It doesnt act like it but at this point Im just guessing anyways. Any ideas appreciated. Thanks.

check fuel pressure. it may be the fuel pressure regulator. any chances the cam position sensor was rotated slightly accidently? That would also cause similar symptoms. Then check for large vacuum leaks, replace vacuum lines that are old and brittle.
