Default What is the largest radio we can fit in our dash?

so i'm looking for a new radio so I can have a couple features that my 17 has in it in my 99 also. after shopping around I've narrowed it down to 2 radios and i'm not sure about fitment.
So, I'm looking at the Alpine 7" INE-W977HD or the Kenwood 6.8" DNX574S

With a little bit of trimming any double den will fit.

I'm not sure it will fit though and it seems to have limited functionality.

I did this in my 07 Mustang and it worked well, but the sound is not as good as an Android head. I pulled it out and went to a full DD Android. There is no beating the bluetooth, GPS, Satellite radio (if you want), Pandora, and the list goes on.

When you use an tablet, you have to add too many pieces to get the system to work correctly, to me. I added a fader, amp (Alpine), SWC's, and the list goes on. I still have all the special add on sitting in a box. I even have a new overhead console with DVD player that would incorporate into it, but never installed it. Another item sitting in a box, collecting dust.

There is a full write up in The Mustang Source on how to add a tablet with amp, swc's, fader, etc. It's called "Installing touch screen" in the interior mod section.
