Default What is this hose for?

I noticed that this hose is starting to fall apart pretty bad. What is this hose? Yhe one that goes on the green fitting. It says fuel and something else. What size hose is it? What is it for? I have a 99 with the 5.4

charcoal canister related...purge valve maybe?

Its called the fuel/vapor separator tube. Its a Ford part, mine was $55 after tax.

What happens when the hose gets bad and gets big cracks or holes in it?

I replaced mine before it cracked or got holes in it. But when you touched it, the outside coating just crumbled. From what I was told and what I understand, the engine would act as if it had a vacuum leak.

Does it have fancy end connectors? If not just go to the hardware store and get another tube the same size....

Haha smartass! Lol Supposedly it has a valve in it, around the green cap. I checked the old line after I got the new one, I couldn't really see one.
