400 degrees I left the seals in but they're getting tossed for new bearings and seals all around.

What's everyone's opinions on this diff cover? Keep in mind it won't see bad weather or even rain... it's just to show off the new gears What did you do to your 10th gen today?-photo260.jpg

I don't dig it. I'd opt for a cover like this (or another design) and powder coat it to match.

This one, you could get a Ford oval to replace the G2 logo. (I'm considering this for mine )

I like that idea. Powder coat to match and toss a ford emblem in there... that would be nice.

The clear cover is an easy swap and is kinda cool but you've gone above and beyond on everything else. I say do what Ohio suggested and take it above and beyond on the cover as well!
I think the clear just would look cheap next to all your other work

Default 4x4 shift ****

Big day today on the 2003 scab long bed .... the brand new XL3Z-11661-AAA 4WD shift **** arrived to replace the original one whose shaft splintered a couple weeks ago. In the last two weeks also: new junkyard door panels (long story on how I destroyed old ones) and new low-end bluetooth radio (cheap, but a major improvement from the factory CD clicking unit that's been in it since birth)... I swear this nearly 223K beast drives like new now with that new XL3Z-11661-AAA and new radio set to have the display roughly the same color green as the odometer and overhead console LEDs.

What model Kenwood is that? How much trimming did you have to do to install?

It is a Kenwood DPX303MBT ... around $99 on Amazon, plus wiring harness adapter. There is a model with a CD player for a few dollars more. Wanted something basic and that came fairly close to matching the design aesthetic of the rest of the interior, so this one fit the bill nicely as the LED color can be programed in a variety of colors. Hadn't actually installed an after market radio since 1986 in high school, so maybe this LED color reprogramming is common on current low end non touch screen units. Anyway, the desired look is achieved for next to nothing.

The trimming is around a quarter inch on top and just a couple little places on bottom. Here's the video I watched, there are lots of others too, showing a double din install in this era Ford.

How much time did that take? I didn't even realize these trucks had that option. Lol
