Well you couldn't see it. From the other side it didn't look THAT bad. But yea, too much metal fatigue, not just where it broke, it goes beyond that lol. Great, you found another.

That's one of those "Don't know 'til you dig in" problems. The only reason I thought to even look at mine was the conversation started here.

Just been on holiday . while i was away i let the paint shop have shamu came back all sorted

rusty rockers cut out.. insides cleaned up and sprayed with cavity wax. ,new rockers fitted and all painted. he even spaced the bars off so nothing gets trapped in there again.

I just suppose I didn't see it coming and I do have an exhaust leak which is what prompted me find the cause. Wish I had done it sooner.

maccavvy that truck is going to last forever with you taking care of it like that. Good job man!

Jp, I've never seen the cross get that bad and vaguely recall the welds breaking on some of them... -uknow, the tack or stagger welds you can see on the reinforcing plate where the mount through holes on the cross are, - you can see before dismantling. Yea, that's the worst I've seen. How many miles do you have on the truck ?

It was pretty bad I have to admit that. I'm at 256k right now. Hoping it all plays nice after its buttoned back up.

It should, just try not to move the trans around too much, up and down if you can avoid it. Your clutch packs in the rear axle may react and slip a little on turns, that will go away after some time. Should be real smooth on the e-way, watch your speed, you can creep up to 80 plus real easy lol.

Man it makes me cringe to see the rust problems you guys have to deal with up North. This is my favorite generation of F150 (I think...I always go back and forth on which is my favorite, this or the 92-96 lol). Love to see you guys take initiative to fix it correctly though!

I'll let you know how it goes. I have a 3 ton bottle jack lifted just enough to have taken the load off the crossmember.
