for the doors you can get away with just doing the inside door panel and for the outside just use a piece to surround the speaker braket, makig sure you secure the speaker on top of the matting separating the metal door and the speaker. The door will shut with a solid "thud" rather then a "slam" sound to it. (Which is a good thing) Theres other deadning options though, spay types will have a smell that will eventually fade but could make for an easier install, and less expensive. Some people use Roofing material, a roll of this product works just the same but has a heavy smell to it and will fall off in extreme summer heat.
sorry no pics

That's even more of a gap than I had. I had to mount to the existing plastic as well because you're right, the mounting brackets are useless.

Default I installed JBA performance headers

Titanium Ceramic coated performance headers by JBA. Saved BIG too finding them on ebay by the original purchaser who never installed them after plans changed. Retail $650 (Autozone) I was able to talk him down from $250 to $200 free shipping. By installing them myself I saved on labor co$t too.

That little 4.2 could use anything you've got to get the smallest bit more power out of it lmao, gutless but at least somewhat reliable.

One guy on here a while back retrofit his 4.2 with an m112 and made some good power with it.

No problem. I used roof waterproofing material in my Mustang ten years ago, and it's held up pretty well. I has fallen in a few places, though, and while better than nothing, probably isn't as effective as the "real stuff." I'm using 80mm butyl material for this go-around, and will do at minimum the outside panels, and inside around the speakers. I'll likely, though, do the entire inner panel if I have enough material, and plan to seal up the larger holes, as well. I'll do the back wall of the cab, and areas of the floor that go "ting" instead of "thud" as below:
