Now an XLT in Colorado
Now an XLT in Colorado
I installed my radar detector last evening. I don't have much of a lead foot any more, but like having the detector as a "check."
I disassembled a spare smart cord, and mounted the guts in the roof above the sunroof console, and powered it from the switched power there. I used an old visor mount to clip the detector to the headliner. The visor obscures the leftmost portion of the display (right where the radar band is displayed) , so I might go back in and extend the smart cord's "alert" LED to a more visible location. I also made provisions to add a secondary "mute" button if I feel the need.
EDIT: FIXED! A 1/4" spacer between the headliner and detector lowers it just enough that the entire display is now visible.
I like the location because it's out of the way and mostly hidden from casual view.

Yea, these here, thought they were more expensive, guess they weren't to bad. Great for snow blowing. Also have a lot of grass to cut, so I mow into the night quite a bit. They might be to bright for the truck.
