Now an XLT in Colorado
Not as fancy (or effective) as a real lock, but tailgate theft is typically a crime if opportunity, and I'm betting that the would-be thief likely (hopefully) won't have a screwdriver/nut-driver in their pocket.

This is my '02 XLT. Bought it from my mother in law 2 years ago after my father in law passed. At that time, it had just over 73k miles on it. Very well cared for and properly maintained its entire life. Stock as it can get and this is my first change since I got it ... new wheels! Needed new tread anyway, so went ahead and got the wheels along with the tires.
I was unsure about getting black wheels but I think it turned out pretty good.

I've heard of it before, never seen it here, but I guess it wouldn't be hard to do. Wear a big coat! Someone stole my chrome receiver hitch cap once, on a job in the city. Wasn't a cheap plastic one either. That cheesed me off a little.
With as much as some of those SD gates are going for, they might be a target!
