I replaced the OEM third brake light assembly on the back of the cab of my 2003 XL Sport edition (116,100 miles) with an SPPC Smoke LED Brake Lights G2 unit. A molded plastic socket for one of the cargo lights had melted, frying two bulbs in a year and a half, and could no longer hold a bulb (see [URL="https://www.f150forum.com/f6/melted-cargo-light-socket-350119/"[/URL] Melted Cargo Light Socket thread.)

Fairly easy install. Hardest part was removing enough of the various headliner connections to pull the back down to access the plug. A trim-popping tool I bought to work on my Beetle 30 years ago came in handy at several spots. (Also ended up replacing the 15 amp overhead light fuse relay I blew when I accidentally shorted the dome light while re-installing it.) The new LED light unit fit well but there's a small gap below the light; may end up using trim adhesive to seal along the top of the trim piece to keep water from entering the rear window assembly and ultimately in the cab.

I like the smoked look. May end up replacing my tail lights as well.

Not sure if the 99 is the same as a 98 on this plug. But I looked at my buddys 98. And his only has a cap on that plug. Mine dose not have the cap. So guessing its only a test port??
Got under the truck, and my wife turned the key on. Could only hear a low whine. Like the pump was locked up, and not able to spin.Hit the tank a few times but no go. Wondering if the pump has anything to keep it from pumping when low or out of fuel? As I only put enough in to try to get it to start. Did not want to pour 10 gallons in. Then need to pull the tank.

Going to order a new fuel pump Monday from Rockauto. And have the bed off when it gets here.
Will try to fire it off tomorrow on Carb Cleaner. But figure as long as the truck has set there. Figure the screen is eat up on the bottom of the pump also. With the loader the bed will be easy to sit off the truck. Just drop a moving blanket between the bed and cab. Use the forks and bed rails to lift it off the truck.
Will spray the 6 bed bolts tomorrow with Kroil, this stuff is the best I have ever seen. Sprayed all the bolts on the engine a week before taking it apart. Everything came apart like its was new. Even the exhaust bolts were easy to take off. Step son bought me a industrial size can 3 years ago. Still using it as a small spay does the job. Smells bad but man its goood....
If it fires on spray tomorrow. Will start in replacing the front ball joints and half axles. Most of it looks good, but rebuilding it. That way I have no issues later on.

Hopefully they come off when I had my 00 we ended up using a torch to get them off and we put normal bolts in instead of the torx head ones after that

But we see a dusting of snow a year. Most trucks here in Tn don;t know what rust is. This one came from ms, and they have no ideal what salt is or a snow plow. So without the salt most stuff here is easy to take apart. But my Famous last words.. This will only take 30 minutes. 3 days later its done... But have a torch sitting by the truck Its only taken 13.5 months to get this truck almost back on the road. Yes I'm fast at nothing and faster at naps..
This is just a toy I drive this as a daily driver.
