Well Thursday night my truck left me stranded for the first time. The rear U-joint failed and the driveshaft dropped out of the truck as I was driving 75mph down the highway. Yesterday I had a local driveshaft shop make up a new driveshaft for me, and I installed it today. While the truck was in the shop, I also installed a new grille. A buddy of mine had this laying around for several years, and gave it to me for free, so while the tow and the new driveshaft cost me $500, at least the truck is back up and running, and looking a little better!

Don't you hate when a cheap part going out ends up costing you a fortune

I've replaced several drive shafts,$80 with both yokes at the junk yard every time!

I thought you gave this truck up a while ago bud?

Great idea in theory, however I have a regular cab short bed 2wd manual trans truck, so unless I find the exact same truck in the junkyard, it isn't going to fit, and about 90% of the trucks in the junkyard are extended cab automatic 4wd.

Not sure. Didn't tear it back apart to see exactly what the noise is. My dad has worked for ford for over 20 years so he is going to get me a reman motor and we are going to put it in.
