And these reasons would necessitate having a holster below your steering wheel for quick draw access ?
There's a difference between having a gun in your vehicle and having it mounted below your steering wheel so that you can quickly grab it while driving/sitting in the driver seat.
Just seems a bit strange IMO, if that's alright.

If it's meant to be used for self defense, I don't see how on earth you would need to shoot someone while driving, for self defense - unless you were in some hollywood style car chase.

Why would you not want your firearm as easy to for you to reach as possible?

There was a guy about 10 years back that was shot and killed while driving by some thugs that cut him off,it was just road rage but they started shooting at him. The guy that did the shooting said the only reason he did it was because "his boys" called him a punk. Bet he wishes he had a gun within reach. I don't have a handgun,so for quick access stuff I have a knife in the door which wouldn't help at all with that kind of situation, but it's just smart to have a little extra protection. Does it ever hurt anyone for you to have a gun close by?

I saw your post in another thread, I know it can be awkward to be confrontational at a new job, but it's completely normal to be be compensated if you use your personal vehicle at work.
At the very least gas should be reimbursed, and really you should be getting paid extra on top of that for wear and tear.
Even if it's only short distances, it's your personal vehicle, it's like any other tool. It's not your responsibility to supply tools for your boss. There's a fine line between being a nice guy and being taken advantage of.
