New hub assembly installed. Brake shield was practically gone so I had to rip it off, which was too easy. Screws didn't budge so I left them for now and tapped remaining metal back against the knuckle. Took 4 hours to complete, two of which was in applying PB Blaster every 20 minutes or so to get the three main hub assembly bolts off. (Old hub on ground)
Fixed the problem and I saved $300+.

I properly broke in my fresh 8.8 rebuild, removed the cover and inspected. All looks good so I installed a ford racing aluminum diff cover and added mobil 1 75w90 synthetic gear oil. It was raining today so I went for a lil ride. I love my diff now. I can get sideways without having a one tire fryer. No more stupid open diff. It looks good with the silver shocks. I still need to clean the old oil off the diff.
I went to the local transmission shop to get a quote on a 4r70w transmission rebuild with a tow kit and was quoted $1700 total. I have almost 240,000 on the original tranny. Does that sound like a good price?
