We pulled the bed on my son-in-laws new(old) 99 F-150 4X4 which he bought a month ago.
Removed the gas tank which was rusted and leaking due to the gas tank strap recall that was never done. Straps rusted and damaged the tank. Dealership would not replace the straps unless we replaced the leaking tank with a Ford gas tank (over $1,000).
Pulled the gas tank off his old F-150 4X4 which was destroyed Dec. 26th by an infamous F-150 engine fire (he only had the truck 2 months). Unknown if the recall had been performed on the cruise control. Tank looks great. Looks like it may have been replaced. Going to clean it up tomorrow and go to the dealership and pick up new tanks straps.
While the bed is off we are going to replace the brake line from the ABS to the rear axle. Also will check to see if anything else needs replaced.
