What can I do to my 4.2 to make it faster
without spending alot of money like under 100.00 I have a flowmaster which helped a little the K&N did too, but when I put a cold air kit on the power I wanted was there. Now Im hooked. I was thinking about a TB changed and duel exhaust. What about some headers? what will fit in a junk yard? Do they make a intake that will work on the 4.2? other then factory?

Well, it all depends on your budget. "Generally" throttle bodies are only really effective when talking about a higher hp vehicle. I have over 300 to the wheels on my Mustang and I still use the stock one. Would I buy a thottle body until I get over 425ish, no.
But if you can PORT it yourself, hell, I'd prob give it a crack. What can it hurt?
Unfortunately, for cheap mods, $100 or less, not really many out there aside from what you've done already. MAYBE find a secondhand tuner ( make doublesure unlocked though ) and that will help quite a bit for thottle response and pick up a few HP. Will drive a lot nicer though.
Bang for buck, I'd save up for steeper gears as those can make a vehicle seem like a whole another car/truck. Don't add power and lose some top end ( and I do mean really top end ) but it will rip thru 1 - 3 even faster thought possible and also 4 to 5......
Hope that helps a bit.....
I wish there was cheaper mods to do, I started with those and been slowly moving up to bigger and more expensive go fast mods, lol

Excuse my ignorance, but this is the first pickup I've owned, always had mustangs but bought a bike. Do you basically need to start out with a 4.6l at a minimum before really putting any money into mods?
I know swaps in later model mustangs from the v6 to a v8 cost more than just going out and buying the same car with a beat-up v8 motor and doing a swap or rebuild. Is it pretty much the same with trucks?

Aye, would about the same. Would be a LARGE amount of work and would be easiest if you had a donor truck. I haven't done one on a F-150 before so I can't say as down to the nuts and bolts of how it's done but I've done them on a Mustang and also a Crown Vic.
But it all really depends on what YOU want to do with it and will enjoy. Obviously the 4.6 will be more powerful but is it worth it to you to spend that much money and labor to do it? Or can just put basic bolt-ons the truck and build it up slowly over time.
But on other hand, if have the time / money and like to tinker, be a fun project!
