Driving to work this morning, guy decides to make a right turn from the left lane. He proceeds to hit the guy in the right lane, deflects off him comes back hard left into the side of me. Got both doors, rocker panel, cab corner and running board.

Dang man. That sucks.

You can look on the bright side as if you get new doors/rockers they'll prob be rust free.
Still, dealing with insurance companies and spending the time getting it fixed is a pain.

No kidding. They try to find every avenue to spend the lowest amount possible. That is the name of the game though.

Does suck about the damage though. Good to see it wasn't much worse and that its still able to be driven.

Make sure you tell the insurance agent and the body shop that you want good rockers, not that cheap chinese sheet metal. Mine rotted in 5 years, with only 2 winters worth of driving. Don't take no for an answer.

Damn. That is an easy $1500 in damage to a car in my part of the world. I'd love to hear what the estimate is when you get it. Did it bend the frame panel where the side running board mounts? I hope you didn't get your frame tweaked. If so, you can add a $1000 for frame straightening. Good luck with the truck and repairs.

My 02 Explorer XLS had similar damage to the front end. It tore the bumper cover, dented the fender to above the wheel, headlight, grille (cracked) hood (small dent on corner), wheel wheel moulding and bumper cover brace. That was all that was damaged. This was in 2011, so the unit was only 9 model years old. They totaled the truck. They didn't want to take a chance on there being underlying damage that they would have to pay for.

I had it repaired in a local body shop for $1120, using used parts and a new headlight. That included paint and front end alignment USAA blew it on that one. They did let me get it back, (other drivers insurance company) for $1400. I put in my pocket over 4400 after all was done. I have a rebuilt title now, but it wasn't hurt hardly at all. The adjuster never raised the hood to see if it really was damaged inside. They just looked at the general damage, put in the year, did a couple calculations, then said "I'm going to total it. We'll give you a call in a couple days with a settlement." That was almost 3 years ago, and I still use it as a daily driver. Maybe that is why I've only put 7k on my F150 in the past 4 years. And less than 900 on the Mustang. lol

Thanks all for the replies. The tire did get sliced so it's gone, not a Michelin they're Kelly Safari Trax. Definitely gonna make sure I get quality replacement metal as I plan on keeping this truck a long time. It will certainly suck not having it for a while but on the upside I will get 1 new rocker, on the downside my doors were perfect and u don't know what they will want to do with them. I won't settle for a bondo repair so I would assume new skins.

I think it just bent the mounts but I haven't realy looked close yet, spent most of the day at the dr. Office. Bad headache sore neck and shoulder and hip, then sent for a ct scan so I'll get a better look tomorrow and decide on which body shop.
