Started the truck this morning and it started idling weird. I love in the south and it hardly ever gets below 20 degrees here. Well, yesterday the low got to about 14 with a windchill of who knows what and this morning it was 4 degrees with a -9 windchill. My truck usually idles at about 800-900 rpm's. This morning I started it and it kept jumping between 400-900 rpm's. Any ideas?

This may not be the answer you're looking for, but with these unusual temps, I'd wait until later this week to see if the problem persists. This extreme cold can do funny things to vehicles.

Same temp here when I started mine. It made a chirping noise for about 5-10 seconds then it went away. I chalked it up to the extreme cold but will keep an eye out too.

Looking forward to the downright summerlike above-freezing temps later this week!

Yep, was just the weird cold weather we had here. Blows my mind how Monday and Tuesday we had - degree windchills her and today it was 61 degrees. Good ole freaky southern winters.

Check the forums. With the cold, comes bad IAC motors. The aluminum and the contaminents inside the units make the do what you are describing. Either take the IAC off and clean it good, or replace it if it bothers you. It is a very common cold weather situation. Good luck.

Mine was doing the same thing, even dying on me a few times. Weather warmed up and it's back to normal. Glad to hear yours wasn't anything major.

Thanks for the tip. It doesn't bother me really, just kind of startled me a little bit. Now that it's back to normal weather here and the truck is running smoothly I'm not worried, lol. Famous last words.
