Ways to increase gas mileage

Kill em all
Its a 1995 Sportster 1200 with stage 2 cams and port and polish and carb. Screaming Eagle exhaust. It will carry the front tire about 4 inches off the ground in 1st gear, if it gets traction. We picked up a Full size tank, fender set and adapted to it. Other than that it is normal.

lol wut?
I have a bike that has 30 more hp, pretty much the same torque and wet weighs 100lbs lighter than the dry weight advertised for the sportster 1200 in 95...i lmfao @ ur comment about 'if it can get traction'
If that bike can break the tire loose, you need better tires real quick.

I rode a friends 06 1200 Custom and traction isn't a problem. Keeping up with my 28 year old Suzuki Gs 1100L is something it has a problem with. It has 30 more hp. and does't have a traction problem. The real problem is he paid $11,000 for it in 06 and has $1,500 in upgrades and can't get someone to give him $5,000 for it with less than 10,000 mi. So much for the Great Harley Resale Value.

Ok this thread was good with all the gas saving tips and it could probably be a sticky but now it's just everyone raging about whose bike is better? I thought this was an f150 forum......

Go and walk my route to work each day at about 50 miles each way bud. See how far that gets you. Not to mention carrying about 900 lbs of video equipment around too. Dumb remarks like that on a truck forum.... sheesh.
On another note. I average 18.2 miles on my 4.6L 3V going at 55mph. This is a mix of 50/50 street and highway. My best mileage was 18.4 cruising at 80mph, drafting off of semis and other trucks on the interstate. Not recommended to do what I did, but it does help the mpg. Not bad for a 4x4 SCREW and a 6.5 foot BED and 3.73.
