While driving during rain just noticed rain water making thru the gap and falls frm ceiling. Wonder if this is common issue. I cld slightly move the glass frame a few mm..is it secured by screws frm inside and hav come loose..input appreciated.:)

I have the same problem. Thought it was coming from the 3rd light, so I replaced it thinking it was the seal. That was not the issue. I still have the same issue. Not sure if your leak is in the same area, but mine is at the center of the electronic rear window

There are bolts that hold it in place both under the headliner and behind the seat. Do a YouTube search about the f150 rear window and there is a guy on there I believe he is switching from solid to a slider rear window but he had a detailed video on where the bolts are and how to get to them.
Good luck! |
I just switched from solid to slider. Have had back window out twice now and rescaled with butyl tape each time. There are 12 bolts that hold window in and 12 bolts that hold window trim on. I myself take headliner ou to get bolt up top and the plastic interior pieces on sides and bottom out to get other. I don't know if u have a reg cab or what. I have a reg cab. To me sounds like ya need to replace the butyl seal. From what I understand it is common on this gen truck for em to need replaced. It's not too bad. The butyl tape cost bout 21 dollars at napa. Srry I thought I had pics of when did but don't. There are ALOT of threads on here bout it and u tube had em too.

Happened to me, the window has a piece inside that has plastic around it. It's all held together by that, if the internal plastic has a crack in it water will get in. I took the window out and silicon sealed the cracks and put it back. I also sealed the space between the part you showed in the pic and the body. And I'm leak free now. I'm sorry if the explanation is a little confusing but later on today I'll post a couple pics on here for ya. Hope this helped

It's a rubber gooey sealer about the size of a sharpie marker and it runs a ring around the window and like the other guys said its about 12 bolts to hold travyforyou window in. Remove the plastics and the rear seat back rest and scrape the old stuff out from the window and from the cab and put primer on both so there isn't any rust! The local auto window shop will have the sealer and primer! Use the proper stuff and it will never leak again

My 97 and my 98 both leaked from the same spot, I almost fixed it then I thought to myself "when do I sit back there?" Lol
