Default 99 150 rear brake problems

On 2 or maybe 3 occasions, on a very hot road surface in Fl, either my rear pads or emergency shoes stated dragging. This caused serious slowdown and eventual overheating. It never does this on short trips or
around town. Has anybody had a similiar problem, and if so, how did you
fix the problem?

When have you changed the pads? If you have did you change the springs on the the rear drums? I assume the 99 still has drums on the rear....

Default 99 150 Rear Brake problems

Mine is a late 99 150 with ABS front and rear disc brakes. It does, however, have small mechanical operated shoes for the emergency
brake system. It had new front and rear pads replaced at 79,000
by the dealer that I bought it from.

Well check all that out and see if you can see what might be going on with it.

Thank you Westtn Fx4,

I plan to do just that, but thought beforhand, one of the Senior Members
might have had the same problem, and could give me some idea of what to look for. I've never been afraid to do an exploritory, so I'll take your
limited advice.

Well another thing I thought of is possible low break fluid pressure. Sometimes these trucks have weak brake lines that need replaced. Just remember I'm your #1 senior member
