Both trucks use seven pins and the truck harness wires all the same and in the same position except the 98 has a red wire where the 99 has purple/white stripe

Digital Transmission Range (TR) Sensor..

I taught the 99 tranny is bad? Expect the VB to be bad also. Have you tried using 98 VB and TC?

The Line Pressure Tap is on located on the other side of tranny

EPC Solenoid-
Check for Continuity using Ohmmeter (less than 200 milliamps) on EPC solenoid terminal and Engine Ground. It should show infinite resistance.

OSS Sensor Resistance should be within 450-750 ohms

If 99 connectors and Solenoids are different from 98 the replacement parts, the year should be 99 up not 98 up. http://www.transparts.ru/pdf/aod_04_w.pdf

I have not tried using the tc from the 98. I only slid the transmission back far enough to move the tc around not pull it out. The 98 vb was in it at first but it had this problem so I put the 99 vb in it with same results.

I'll check those tomorrow afternoon hopefully. Idk how they could be different if they look the same and have the same plugin

You said you installed a 98 tranny. OMG! TC is the one pushing your Truck Forward. It's like a Jet Engine but instead of using air it's using Fluid. Replacing the TC will solve the problem...

Transmission Failure are Very Rare. Electronically Controlled Tranny are very Reliable and fully protected by the Fail Safe System. Most tranny can easily be fix by just replacing the Valve Body and Torque Converter.
