Question Use bigger tires for rear?

it's about time to get new tires for my baby.

it's a 4.6 2000 regular cab, rear wheel drive so i m thinking of using 265/70R16 for the fronts, which i m currently using, and 285/75R16 for the rears. i dont think i can use anything bigger than that coz i dont have a lift-kit

is it a good idea?
thanks

it won't hurt, throw your speedo off but that's about it.

What's the point of using larger ones in the rear? It probably won't hurt, might just look a little goofy.

You can definitley fit the 285/75/16 on the front too. I have Nitto Terra Grapplers of that size all around, no rubbing anywhere. Its stock height as of right now too, i have a 3" leveling kit though just not in yet.

if its 4x4 you cant engage it becuz it will bund your gears im runnin 265/70/17 in front and 285/75/17 in the back ive used 4x4 for like 2 feet and i could hear the tires slipping when i took it off cuz it was binding the gears

he states in the OP that it is rear wheel drive, which i assume means he does not have the 4x4 option...i was going to say the same thing you did though.

Dude use the smae size or boost up the front. That look went out a loooong time ago unless the rear tires are for winter only or something and even then I stlll wouldn't do it.
