What are you taking about?
the owner didn’t do anything wrong

truck dropped off without debris in port
debris fell in pot during service
tech failed to inspect his work
debris was not removed
engine go boom

fin

The owner did nothing wrong here

I don’t think you have ever had an intake off or you would see how ludicrous this sounds. You need to clean the area to make sure nothing falls into the ports prior to and during disassembly. Then again during reassembly.

The owner worked on truck. Owner dropped bolt on intake. Owner didn't take the time to remove bolt from intake and left it on intake. Owner didn't tell mechanic about leaving bolt on intake. Bolt never would have been on the valve it owner had not left the job unfinished. Ford Warranty does not cover: Improper Maintenance. Dropping a bolt on your engine and leaving it there is improper maintenance. It's pretty cut and dry. The OP is lucky the mechanic has accepted responsibility. We will never know if this would have happened if the OP had followed through with proper maintenance. Why? Because he didn't do proper maintenance.

If you remove cops, fuel rail/injectors....you gonna see a bolt near #6. May be you could miss it by 4 or 8 because you do those intake bolts by feel...

regardless I agree, you make sure there's nothing there that can fall off or into the engine before you pull a piece like manifold off of it......its pretty careless if you dont. There could be a rock, a wasp nest, broken plastic clip, etc. You pull everything back out of the way clean around it before you remove that intake...... Then you immediately put rags into runners.

Just like you blow out and clean out spark plug wells , check with mirror even before you pull the spark plug....... You got to be a fool not to..
