Unable to rotate engine by hand after valve seals replaced
#11
I understand the synchronizer to not have to be "timed". It can be stabbed into the engine at any degree since it's the sensor that receives the interrupted signal and not the gear on the synchronizer. The 15 degrees that the manual states is used only so the sensor wiring harness will be in the correct orientation and not be stressed when it is plugged in. Granted, the #1 cylinder should be at TDC to do this.

If all of the valves are closed, that's why it won't turn over. No place for the compression to go.

Trust me on my 2cylinder John Deere... you cant even begin to try and throw the fly wheel if the petcocks aren't open.... too much compression. (Guess that's a good sign I have a strong engine tho lol)

Agreed, that is a good sign.... or at least it's not a bad sign, LOL.

No... the valves are closed. How is the air going to get out the plug hole if the intake valves are all closed?

Didn't you say you lost a valve keeper while doing the seals? Did you ever find it? That would of been enough to keep the engine from not doing a 360 turn.
