Default Two different motor types on the 5.4 for 2002?

I was reading the specs at: http://www.fordf150.net/specs/02f150.php

It appears that there are two different types of the v8 5.4 triton engine. 4R70W and 4R100.

How do I know which one I have? Also, whats the difference and which is better?

One motor, two different transmissions.
4r70w is in most trucks
4r100 is in lightnings and Harley Davidson.
Check the tag on the side of the tranny to see witch one you have.

Thanks. I'm pretty sure it's a 4R70W since it's a SuperCrew not a Lightning or HD according to your information.

I did look under the truck where the transmission is and couldn't find any label specifying the type tho.

Look at #10 on this type of sticker (drivers pillar panel) then figure out which transmission you have for sure. This is the best way, but only it it wasn't changed out prior.

Well, yes, of course.

I was more referring to the OP whose user name hints at a Supercrew Lariat model, but yes, technically it is Supercrew = 4R70W (unless a HD edition)
