Default Tuner question

I've done some searching and I can't find much for our trucks and what I've found seems to be conflicting with what I heard. But would a tuner boost my mpg? It I can gain 2-3 mpg on average I'm defenatly going to be getting one as I worked out it would take about a month and a half to pay itself off

I def saw three+, but I had tuner, accel coils, iridum plugs, AEM cold air, and full 2.5" exhaust.

I got about 2ish increase but that varies a lot. It's hard to keep my foot out of it with my edge. I say it's worth it.

1-2 is typical with a SCT but that's as stated, if you keep your foot out of it constantly.

Not sure how much info you're looking for. Here's a good start:

Searching the 97-2003 forum for "Programmer" - These are what I considered relevant from the first 2 pages. You could also look in pretty much every MPG thread on this site.

With my Superchips on the 87 tune I saw 0 MPG gain.

Well I used a google search and could only realy find info for powerstrokes. But I've driven fast cars and have been well over 100 many times and my truck doesn't have the handeling to drive fast and I doubt 15-20 hp is going to make me want to treat it like a drag truck. But I'll probly be looking into one now. And the extra hp will probly help with my occasional hauling
