Default tune

I want to get my computer tuned but not by a programmer chip I'm wondering if I should turn on and off the tune with the overdrive button or the on and off switches on the stearing wheel any sugestions ?
On my tahoe I control it with the traction control

You can't "tune" your truck without a programmer....

iirc, you can't turn it on/off either.
On GM's, you can use the tow/haul button to change the parameters in the PCM, but on Fords they actually disengage the OD so I'm not sure how that would work.

A true tune rewrites the PCM computer in the truck, there isn't a switch where you can turn it on and off at will. You can restore it back to stock which removes the tune but truck has to be off to do that and takes 3-5 mins to do so

If you disconnect the computer at the plug on the passenger side at the firewall, it will remove all the codes and set your computer back to normal. All the programs are hard coded inside the PCM so there is nothing to "tune" or change that I am aware of. Being set at the factory, it works just fine in managing the fuel, spark, and air to your engine for most applications. I am sure there are other PCM's out there in the aftermarket that will give you different performance in your truck than the stock PCM that comes from Ford but I don't have any knowledge on what these will do for your truck.

I understand what you're getting at. Because a few of my friends have cobalts and they also use their tc buttons to change tunes but as far as I know nobody does that for fords.
