Trying to buy need opinions
Ok guys so I've found a 98 single cab 4x4 XLT with 170k, 4.6, and an auto. Here's the kicker one of the headgaskets is blown haven't inspected the truck myself but he's got a mechanic sayin it is. Now the guy wants 2200 for it and I'm sure I could talk him down with some of that green stuff. Just wanted to see what you guys thought here's some pics

If your willing to put in another $2500+or- for repairs and whatever else it might need, and do the work mostly yourself, I think its a decent deal.
Since the truck is just taking space in the sellers yard I would offer him $1500.

I do all the work myself and I have another truck (see pics in profile if ya want to) I was thinkin if it is just a head gasket and the guy hasn't been driving it like that then i could skate by with about 5-700 bucks in nothing but parts head studs, gaskets, machining of the heads, etc etc and then in my mind would be turn around and sell it. I have seen trucks in that shape same mileage, and package go for 5k+

That sounds like a good plan and you know what your doing. Thats some good money if you resold it for 5k.
$2500 came to mind because recently I bought a 2003 Screw 4.6L 122k for $3000 and I figured since I got it so cheap I would allocate $2500 for any future repairs that might pop up. So far everything is fine but I have spent $360 replacing things like filters, fluids and a few parts to make it purr.
Planning on keeping that truck for a long time but if resale was an option I would have in my mind to sell it for like $7k.
Already turned down an offer from my uncle for $5500 because, unlike my car, I actually like driving my truck and working on it. I could care less whats under the hood of our camry, I pay someone else to look at that boring stuff.
