I hear stories like you guys have told by a lot of the older guys I work with. It's amazing the stuff people used to be able to get away with. These days with all these damn whiney *** millenials safety is just insane and beyond common sense. I'm 27 now, and I've been around drill rigs since I was 18. I full on know what I'm doing, but I'm going to make mistakes just like everyone else. If I'm not allowed to make mistakes then that's not a company I'm going to stay at either way. Sucks I've wasted almost 4 years there with a near perfect track record.

I've always loved cars and trucks ever since I was a kid. I think I'll start doing some research on where money can be had and go into business for myself flipping cars or something like that.

I've been traveling ever since I started in the industry. It's awesome to see places many never will. Now that I have a family it's rougher than it's ever been. I've actually been contemplating getting a travel trailer and having the wife and little one follow me around where I go. That would make it much more enjoyable.

You know, this just might pave the way to better horizons.

It's still against the law to demean a former employee to another prospective employer I believe.
I'm not sure what they can ask when checking references...punctuality perhaps.
That law is usually by state. Utah is not one of those states. We are also an employment-at-will state - which essentially means an employer can oust an employee at any time, no reason necessary. When I've had other employers call for references, I've given my honest opinion.... but now I refer them to HR. Too damn many questions.

The HR extension is a god send ehh. If that HR wears off the button, make sure you paint it back on there!
