Intake gaskets in good shape? They can sometimes leak on one side and not the other.

Just my 2 cents- just because a job was done recently, dont mean it cant be giving you problems again- (whether you did the work, or a garage did) sometimes an unnoticed scrap of gasket material will give you fits if it was inadvertently left in place.(ask me how i know this!) If you hear an odd hissing sound- get a cheap stethoscope and try to pin point where its coming from. it may be a normal cycling or... it may not. Seeing that you, more than likely, have an air/vacuum leak compounding your problems, i would focus some attention there as well.

Touch it around the gaskets, vacuum hoses, and the manifold mating surface. An extended rod may be helpful.
