Default Transmission 3-4 upshift

So my transmission seems to hold third gear for a very long time even when warmed up. It seems that unless I go over 40 mph the truck will stay in third gear. This happens most times but I am not sure it always does it. Also, when it does shift from 3rd to 4th, i get a slight shutter & shutter noise. Very slight, and it doesn't do it on any other shifts, just the 3-4 upshift. Any ideas on things to check? Truck has around 110k miles, not sure tranny fluid has ever been changed.

Pretty sure it will never go into overdrive unless ur goin over 40. Mine is the same very light shutter only into over drive. I've got about 160k on my truck and still goin strong I wouldn't worry about it too much

How hard to do? Also, do I need to worry about draining the torque converter, I heard that is an option.

You just unbolt the pan and let all the fluid drain out, clean the pan, and changing the filter is as simple as grabbing the filter and pulling it off, and pressing the new one on by hand. Then reinstall pan with new gasket and fill back up with new transmission fluid

Is there a gasket for the pan or do I just use a gasket sealant? Any idea about how much fluid I should I have on hand? Do I just fill through the dip stick tube?

You can get a kit from autozone or wherever that comes with a new gasket and new filter. Fill it through the dipstick. Check your owners manual but I think it takes somewhere around 5-6 quarts? But be sure and check that it's full before you use it

My truck won't go into OD til 40mph, I think that's how it's meant to be.
